A lousy first half condemns Baskonia in Kazan

Bitci Baskonia suffered a severe corrective in the first of his two visits to Russian teams in the Euroliga this week, falling sharply to UNICS Kazan by 83-69. The Vitorians disguised their deficiencies with 5 triples in the first quarter, enough to close with a 24-17 for the first 10 minutes. After that moment, the Russian storm destroyed the Baskonist ship, badly assembled, without a rudder and without a captain. Six Russian triples in just 7 minutes supported a 24-2 partial that bled Dusko's already to rest (48-23). A pair of partials, one in each room, allowed the Vitorians to put some makeup on the result in the second half, although at no time did they have a real option of going back. Baldwin IV, with 23 points, Matt Costello, with 18 points and 9 rebounds, and Sedekerskis, with a double-double (11 + 12), were the only ones to save themselves from burning. On the Russian side, John Brown served as a man orchestra with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 5 robberies, for a total of 20 valuations.

The Baskonia was lukewarm and without intensity, slow in the circulation of the ball and a defense not too aggressive. Thus, although Sedekerskis and Granger solved two threefold attacks, UNICS hardly found it difficult to take the first advantages from John Brown's hand (13-6, min.5). Ivanovic's deadtime did not take effect immediately, as two consecutive Brantley baskets completed a 10-0 partial that placed 17-6 in the 7th minute. Vitorians survived thanks to the triple, continuing Granger and joining Baldwin IV and Marinkovic from the long distance to close the first period below, 24-17.

Una pésima primera mitad condena al Baskonia en Kazán

The bad sensations, not explicitly translated into the scoreboard, were strongly confirmed after the stop. Already without triple as a threat, the Basques were a doll in the hands of a UNICS very comfortable on the track. A 18-0 partial in the first 7 minutes of the second quarter broke the game with cruelty (39-17). Neither the dead times, nor the quintet changes, had any effect. The Russians chained up to 5 consecutive triples to sign a 48 to 19 after two minutes to rest, after Baldwin IV scored Baskonia's first basket in the period. A small UNICS annotator stop somewhat reduced the hole in the middle (48-23).
