The accused faced 37 years in prison but sealed a pact with the Prosecutor's Office and pleaded guilty to sexual abuse, trafficking and exploitation of workers

She and her boyfriend hired undocumented immigrants with bait ads where they promised internship jobs for a thousand euros a month and then, taking advantage of their precarious situation, they groped them or forced them to work in thongs or naked. Upon being discovered, the boyfriend threw himself out of an eighth-story window during a police search and died. Seven of the complainants have in common their origin, from Central America, and the fact that they do not have residence in Spain.
The trial was to be held on Tuesday but was moved up a day because the parties reached an agreement. This morning, the accused appeared at 10:00 a.m. escorted by the National Police from the A Lama prison to sign the agreement that reduced her sentence from 37 years to 9. The conformity hearing was held in the fifth section of the Court of Pontevedra, based in Vigo.
The defendant pleaded guilty and agreed to be sentenced to nine years in prison. Specifically, he accepted one year in prison for each of the five crimes of sexual abuse, five months for the crime of sexual assault, three months for the crime of coercion, three years for the crime of trafficking in human beings and four months for the crime against the rights of workers.
In addition, she will pay a fine of 180 euros for the minor crime of mistreatment. As civil liability, she will compensate each of the victims of the five crimes of sexual abuse with 1,000 euros. In addition, she will pay two other victims, who are protected witnesses, 6,000 euros each.
This closes a chapter of abuse and exploitation of immigrants from Colombia, Guatemala and Nicaragua, among other countries. The case caused outrage and repudiation in nine associations of domestic workers in Spain, who asked for greater protection for this group.
The person involved, now deceased, demanded that they pass a false medical examination in job interviews in which he groped them. The couple harassed some to sleep with them or forced them to work several hours in thongs or naked, or sit down to eat with them without clothes. They also created a climate of terror by telling them that the entire house had surveillance cameras and that they belonged to an international gang. One victim was subjected to torture, according to what she denounced.
