A thief assaults a house in Arrecife while its residents were sleeping

Viña has already reported the events to the Arrecife National Police Station, which is investigating what happened. So far, no arrests have been made.

The security cameras of the house, a property located at the rear of the Lanzafrut fruit and vegetable wholesaler, recorded the scene. A man jumped the wall of the terrace, which overlooks the street, and took several items in a waterproof diving backpack from the Mares brand. While the robbery took place, the inhabitants of the house were sleeping, among them a three-year-old girl. The offender fled through the door of the aforementioned terrace. Another man was waiting for him in the street to help him with the stolen objects and start fleeing the place.

Inside the bag there was a Seac Sub vest (size M), long gray and black Scubapro fins, two Cressi F1 goggles (one yellow and one black), some size 43 booties, a diver's rattle , an orange deco bolla, a vest, a Cressi knife with a five-centimeter flat tip to cut ropes, another diver's knife with a 12-centimeter plastic leg sheath and Decathlon brand thermal clothing.

"Everything was very fast and they didn't make any noise. If I found the thief, I don't know what would have happened"

Félix Viña - Owner of the stolen material

"Everything was very fast and they didn't make any noise," Viña explained. "Luckily for the thief and for me," Viña continued, "I got the alarm notifications on my mobile phone, but at that time I had it on silent. If I find him in the patio of my house with a three-year-old girl sleeping in the house, imagine what could have happened". When the family found out what had happened, they got quite a shock.

As a result of the complaint and the police investigation, which is still open, "two people who match the description provided and collected by the security cameras have been affiliated," said Viña.

Diving shops that sell second-hand items have already been informed of the theft so that they do not acquire any of the objects described and report it if someone approaches with material of dubious origin to try to sell them. In turn, diving clubs and schools in Lanzarote and fans of this sport also have information about what happened.
