La Regla número 4 de la IFAB es la que regula el equipamiento de los futbolistas. Asimismo, no se permite cubrirlos con cinta adhesiva". Además, la norma dice que el árbitro "deberá amonestar a todo jugador que rehúse acatar esta regla o que vuelva a ponerse el objeto o la prenda" que el colegiado le ha ordenado que se quite.
