We put the Finisseur winter kit to the test
✉EsCiclismo.com Equipment and Bicycles 12/31/2021

Just released the winter and in the middle of the Christmas campaign, the Spanish firm Finisseur has put in our hands a complete winter kit that we have tested in recent days, with rather adverse weather conditions. The rain, the wind and the cold have been our companions in these first winter outings but, thanks to the Finisseur garments, we have been able to enjoy our fans without suffering due to inclement weather. Next, we tell you in detail what the result of our test has been.

If not long ago we talked about Finisseur as a new brand that was trying to gain a foothold in the cycling clothing and accessories market, today we can say that we are dealing with a consolidated and recognized brand within the world of two wheels. Through the comments of its customers we can see that the general opinion is that of a brand that offers great quality at very competitive prices.

On this occasion, Finisseur have thought of everything and apart from the garments that are usually the protagonists in this type of test (shorts, jersey and jacket), we have also been able to test a thermal undershirt, gloves, socks, shoe covers and tubular for the neck

Finisseur Pro Race Thermal 2 Bib Shorts

If a product works well there is little point in changing it. The Pro Race Thermal 2 bib shorts , as its name suggests, is a slightly improved version of the Pro Race Thermal. For its preparation, and surely due to the success of the previous version, they have relied again on the Italian fabrics of the MITI and Carvico firms. Most of the garment is made of a smooth fabric on the outside and plush on the inside that provides great comfort and good heat retention. This is where we find the main difference between the new version and the previous one. In the Pro Race Thermal shorts, the main fabric was polyamide (85%) while, in this second version, part of the fabric used is polyester (28%) combined with polyamide (55%). This difference is due to the fact that polyester has better thermal properties with a similar weight to polyamide. The elastic fibers have also been slightly increased. For the chamois, they have relied again on the Ronde HP Men by Elastic Interface, which combines padding of different thicknesses in a design that favors the evacuation of heat and humidity, especially in the perineal area.

The Pro Race Thermal 2 shorts are an excellent option for days with low temperatures, but not extreme ones. On our outings, always slightly above 0 degrees, the garment has performed excellently.

Ponemos a prueba la equipación de invierno Finisseur

As soon as we put it on we can appreciate its great comfort, due in large part to the softness of the fabric, but also thanks to a very careful design with flat seams located in the areas of least movement. The back area is made with a mesh fabric for greater breathability. The bottom of the legs has an elastic band that, on the one hand, holds the garment so that it does not rise when pedaling and, on the other hand, prevents any cold air from entering the interior. The upper part is always kept in place thanks to wide straps (more than 4 cm) that are only elastic in the longitudinal direction to prevent deformation.

If to all this we add the comfort of the Elastic Interface chamois, the result is a garment with which we can go out for several hours comfortably and without worrying about the cold. When choosing the size, we must bear in mind that it is a slightly compressive garment, so if we do not like it or we are not used to it, it is better to opt for one size larger than the one we usually wear.

Sizes: from size 3XS to 3XLColors: Black and Black/RedWeight: 293 g (size M)Recommended price: 95 Euros.

Finisseur Pro Thermal Long Sleeve Jersey

Let's go now with the jersey, the model we have tested is the Finisseur Pro Thermal long sleeve . Its main characteristics according to the manufacturer are comfort, durability, convenience and breathability. It is made, like the shorts, with a Carvico fabric based on polyamide (85%) and elastomer (15%). It is a highly durable fabric and its plush interior provides a pleasant touch. It has a zipper with a puller/blocker, three rear pockets and silicone inserts at the bottom so that it does not ride up when pedaling.

It is recommended for a temperature range between 10 and 16 degrees, so it is a garment that we can use in spring and autumn, depending on the day combined with a windbreaker, and in winter under the jacket. For the test we have worn it under the jacket, since the temperature on the days of the test has never exceeded 8 degrees. As the manufacturer indicates, it is a fitted cut garment, which we must take into account when choosing the size. If we opt for our usual size we will obtain a very tight fit, in case of doubt or if we like looser clothes, we should choose one size more. Even with everything, it is easy to put on and once put on it is very comfortable.

The collar is made of a special hypoallergenic fabric with a very soft touch that protects the skin from excess sweat. Certainly, one of its strong points is its great breathability, it wicks away a large part of the sweat while maintaining an ideal degree of humidity. It is equipped with three large capacity pockets to carry everything you need and at the bottom of them it has a reflective band to make us more visible. Two silicone bands, one wider at the back and two narrower on the sides, ensure that the jersey is always in place.

Sizes: from size XS to 3XLColours: mustard/black, blue/ruby-red, grey/black, black/grey and black/redWeight: 300 g (size M)Recommended price: 75 Euros.

Finisseur Pro Rain Jacket

As we have said before, Finisseur has also sent us one of its high-end jackets, the Finisseur Pro Rainproof . A technical garment made with lightweight polyester fabric and a Zero Wind waterproof membrane. Like the jersey, it has a CamLock zipper with a pull/stopper and a large back pocket with a flap.

The Pro Rainproof jacket is the one that has caught our attention the most of all the ones tested for this article. Technically it is very advanced and on the ground its behavior is excellent. It is a very light and breathable garment. Its membrane supports a column of 8000 mmHg, enough to keep us dry on rainy days.

To prevent water from penetrating inside, all the seams are sealed and the zipper is protected by a flap made of the same material. The cut of the neck is ergonomic so that it fits as close as possible and incorporates double cuffs on the sleeves, all this to prevent the entry of wind or water. If we add great breathability to this, the result is a garment with excellent performance.

Sizes: from size XS to 3XL Colors: black Weight: 205 g (size M) Recommended price: 110 Euros.

The manufacturer's recommended temperature range for this jacket is between 10 and 20 degrees, however, this range may be lower depending on what we wear underneath. The Pro Rainproof Jacket is designed to prevent wind and water from penetrating inside, but it is not a thermal jacket. However, combined with the Pro Thermal jersey and a Finisseur Bioceramic Pro Thermal base layer , the temperature range decreases considerably, being able to withstand temperatures close to 0 degrees.

The characteristics that each garment brings to the set make the result outstanding. The lightweight undershirt (135g) acts like a second skin, keeping you warm while wicking sweat away to the outer layers. The jersey provides extra temperature and comfort while also being very breathable. And the jacket prevents any remaining moisture on garments from being chilled by the wind, while also preventing rain from penetrating inside.

To make the test more complete, we have also provided all the necessary accessories, very comfortable and warm Merino wool thermal socks that, together with the shoe covers , have provided us with a good temperature in our feet. A pair of gloves and a very warm tubular for the neck.

As an illustrative example of what we are talking about, we will tell you that we have tested the set with temperatures slightly above 0 degrees and after climbing a mountain as fast as we could and with the consequent sweating, we have descended the shady slope to 50 - 60 Km/h without feeling cold, can you ask for more? Well, actually yes because as you can see in the data of each garment, the prices are very competitive. The only downside that we are going to put is that we do not like the black color for the jacket, one of our goals as a means of communication is to promote safety for our sport and, although the reflective inserts of the jacket make us more visible, we believe that is not enough and that with other more striking colors we would be more visible.

Given the dates we are in, if you have not yet written the letter to the wise men, here are a few ideas that we are sure will delight any fan of two wheels.
