Falke ESS ski socks, designed for skiing

We have already talked to you on many occasions about the importance of knowing how to dress inside, especially when we talk about skiing or other winter sports.

However, until now we had focused more on shirts and tights, when the truth is that there is another very important element when choosing our inner clothing: socks.

That they are not too long or short, that they hold the foot properly but without excessively tightening it, offering adequate compression, that they have the right thickness to maintain a good transfer with the boot, that they protect us from the cold...

All these details can greatly affect our comfort and also our performance.

Falke ESS socks, designed for skiing

It is not nonsense, each sport requires a specific technique, movements and strength and that is also reflected in our feet.

Falke ESS, Falke Ergonomic Sport System, as we have already explained to you on some occasion, is a brand specialized in sports underwear and they apply all their knowledge of biomechanics and orthopedics to clothing, always taking into account the sport for which each garment is intended.

Within the Falke ski range, we have already introduced you to some of their seamless base layer sets (t-shirt and mesh), but we had not told you about their socks and they deserve a separate chapter on their own.

We all appreciate a good sock

Forget that these are things for "professionals". Everyone, regardless of our level of skiing, or whether we are occasional or regular skiers, benefits from wearing a good sock.

And that is something that we learn in our day to day, or have you never had socks with which you could not go out or walk because they were uncomfortable? It may sound exaggerated, but the truth is that wearing the right sock can make for a great ski day, or a disaster.

In the case of winter sports such as skiing, in addition to needing to be protected from pressure marks, but being compressive, we also need them to help us keep the body warm and dry even in cold and freezing temperatures. That without forgetting, of course, that for the most demanding athletes it is important that there is no loss of transmission.

Because although we ski with the whole body, our base is the feet and, therefore, this garment is essential. From what we perceive around us, it may be an undervalued garment, and that is why we want to encourage you to give it the attention it deserves.

If you take a look at the Falke ESS website, you will see that they have a very extensive range of ski socks, including specific models for alpine, cross-country or cross-country skiing.

As we said, each sport requires certain characteristics and as specialists in sportswear they have this very internalized.

In the same way that all models have a male and female pattern because our anatomy is different and, therefore, so are our needs.

Of its wide range, we are going to focus on 4 specific alpine ski models and a specific compression model, but remember that its catalog goes much further than what you will see here, in case these do not fit your needs.

Of course, keep in mind that all Falke ESS sock models are seamless and have been developed taking into account the female and male anatomies and have specific versions for each one.

Falke ESS SK4

The SK4 is one of the brand's best-selling socks, and it's not by chance. Its light padding offers protection as well as good contact with the boot, making this an ideal sock for skiers and recreational skiers who do not want to do without good performance.

On the other hand, the high content of merino wool facilitates moisture management, helps maintain an optimal temperature and, combined with hemp, helps prevent bad odours, providing extra comfort. It also offers an exceptional fit thanks to the padding in the pressure areas and the anatomical cut on the fingers.

In addition, this season the SK4 line also includes specific models with medium compression that help accelerate muscle regeneration, so that the legs will not feel sore even after several days on the slopes.

Falke ESS SK5

Also available in a specific version for women and men, the SK5 incorporates ultra-light padding, ideal for those who have boot-fitted their boots and not give up direct contact with them.

In this case, thermal insulation is achieved thanks to the silk, keeping the weight low and making the boot easier to put on, while the 3-layer construction structure provides faster moisture wicking.

Falke ESS SK6

In the same vein as the previous model, the SK6 is one of the lightest and thinnest ski-specific socks on the market. Needless to say, they provide direct contact with the boot, guaranteeing maximum force transmission and a high degree of control, making them especially suitable for competition.

Apart from its more performance characteristics, the composition of its materials and the anatomical fit make this model guarantee comfort thanks to its thermal regulation and moisture absorption capacity, providing a pleasantly soft touch.

Falke ESS SK7

It is the latest addition to the Falke ESS ski family. Mind you, the SK7 is a sock aimed at maximum power transmission and therefore comes completely unfilled.

One of its most appreciated qualities is that it fits completely without creating wrinkles, even with the tightest ski boots.

In this case, as it is a sock intended for skiers looking to get their best performance, it is very important to take into account their rate of physical activity, which frequently changes between active and passive phases.

During active phases the body produces heat and sweat, which could cause the feet to cool down during passive phases. Unfortunately, in this case, ski boots don't help much either, which in addition to being hard are not breathable and, the most efficient ones, do not offer much thermal insulation either. To keep your feet dry, without sacrificing good transmission, the sole of the SK7 is polypropylene to help absorb moisture.

Of course, like all other Falke ESS clothing, this model has also been developed with the male and female anatomy in mind.

Falke ESS SK Energizing

The SK Energizing stands out for the graduated compression it offers to improve vascularity and recovery times.

It also features medium density padding and extra reinforcement in wear areas while still providing good contact with the boot.

The merino wool blend offers efficient moisture wicking and excellent thermal insulation and, in addition to providing a perfect fit, it has an anatomical cut in the toe area.

As you can see, there are many socks options that we have and, as you have seen, they are not all the same. That is why it is important to choose the sock we need well, depending on the activity we are going to carry out. Not only to achieve better performance, but even to avoid possible injuries and, of course, also to feel more comfortable.

Plus, there's a variety of colors and patterns to get lost in! Surely among so many you end up finding your ideal sock, or that of your "invisible friend"...
