Ralph Lifshitz, Ralph Lauren, was born in New York in 1939 to a humble family in the Bronx. He is the son of Jewish emigrants from Belarus. During his adolescence he studied economics at City College in Manhattan, although he never finished his studies due to his growing passion in tie design. While he was studying, he worked as a glove salesman and tie salesman. In this way he began to create his collections of male accessories.

In 1967 he opened his first tie shop which achieved incredible success and very fast. At the time the narrow simple ties were fashionable and Ralph Lauren opened up a whole universe of materials and design. He widened the tie and created them in elegant, very flashy and luxurious fabrics. His creations, moreover, had the strength of craftsmanship. The designer was inspired by European fashion to make all his creations and the success was resounding and immediate.

This way, Polo's ascent was meteoric. Only a year later I already had for sale a full line of gentleman's clothing. And in 1969 he set up his first designer boutique inside a store. Specifically Bloomingdale's was the space that housed Ralph Lauren's birth as a luxury designer.

In 1970 he received his first Coty Award, the antecedent of the CFDA Awards given by the United States Council of fashion Designers. After all this he decided to launch his collection of women, thinking of creating designs for those ladies who rode on horseback and had nowhere to find comfortable, elegant and optimal garments for it. And that's how the famous Polo player logo was born, which, at first, was placed on the cuffs of the ladies' shirts.

Ralph Lauren is now visible in more than eighty countries and his collections are as diverse as they are acclaimed. The firm has several fashion lines for men and women, its collection of High stitch, a home line, its accessories, fragrances and even glasses.

Ralph Lauren says goodbye to the presidency of his empire to give way to a young CEO, Stefan Larrson, who comes to the company with the strength and ideas that young people bring. Although it must be made clear that the creator of the firm will continue to receive reports from Larrson as they have created a 'society' that commits him to it.

Some experts receive this fact as a way to regain the trust of the brand's shareholders, because throughout 2015 its value has been greatly diminished. And maybe the new face can turn a nut around the firm. Despite all this, Ralph Lauren remains a quality label with a lot of income and benefits. In 2014, specifically, the brand's revenues reached a total of 6.8 billion euros.
